GROUND THAWING SERVICES
Schahn Construction offers professional ground thawing services to keep your project on schedule, even in harsh Minnesota winters. We use advanced heating systems to safely and efficiently remove frost from frozen soil. Our ground thawing equipment allows crews to continue excavation, concrete pouring, and other cold-weather tasks without delay.
Our machines provide a safe, economical, and environmentally responsible alternative to traditional heating methods. There is no open flame, no hazardous fumes, and no toxic byproducts. We use non-toxic, biodegradable antifreeze and heavy-duty 600 lbs/psi burst hoses for reliable performance. In addition to frost removal, we use this system for temporary structure heating and curing concrete or masonry in cold temperatures.
Performance and Benefits of Ground Thawing
Our ground thawing setup covers up to 5,000 square feet per use, depending on site conditions. We lay hoses directly on the frozen surface, spacing them 8–24 inches apart. Then we cover them with insulated construction blankets to retain heat.
When spaced at 16 inches, the manufacturer estimates that 12 inches of frost can be removed in a 24-hour period. Actual results depend on soil conditions, air temperature, and insulation quality.
Our ground thawing process helps eliminate downtime and keeps your construction site safe, productive, and moving forward, no matter the season. It’s an essential service for contractors working with concrete, masonry, or excavation during winter months.
Trust Schahn Construction for fast, effective ground thawing that protects your crew and keeps your job on track.
